 VERY HELPFUL. Mar 06, 2010
I got this item one month ago, it works fast, it is updatable and came with portable case, I needed it to get the codes from my 99 jetta cuz I get the check engine ligth on so often. I checked the price of this product at the local autoparts store but it was 50 or 60 bucks more expensive than amazon, I had to wait 1 week for free-delivery but I saved money. So far so good.

I purchased this because I bought my wife a used minivan and the check engine light kept coming on for one thing or another, and got tired of trying to drive the van to autozone for their free check (with a scanning tool of the same brand). The dealer charged me 80 dollars for a scanner check and reinforced what Autozone had already told me for free. Worried that one day I may not be able to be driven to one of these places if the light comes on, I needed something to diagnose and research online to pinpoint the problem. I am mechanically inclined; and felt this tool would help save money. It has paid for itself already. I also have already helped 4 co workers figure out what was wrong with their cars and has given me more confidence in the tool. This tool has many features which I have not used. But I am the type that would rather have it and not need it, than Need it and hot have it. This tool does NOT read "Body" codes, only powertrain. So if it is something other than the engine or transmission, you would still need to go to a dealer where a more complex and more expensive computer is connected. Properly used, it could save money and headaches as well as prepare you in case the dealer tries to take advantage of you. This tool has more features than what the average DIY'r needs, so perhaps a cheaper model of the same brand would work well. I like the ease of use and navigation, the large backlit screen and the brief explanation of the code not just a code number. I really liked the product and would recommend for someone who likes to upkeep their vehicle.

It is a great product, it does everything they say on the description, its very easy to use, all the data you can expect from your car and more at your hands...
The software is ok, but not a high quality software, the original disk contain old software so you should update as soon as you get the product, but besides that is a really good purchase.
I will only miss the posibility to read OBI codes, wich is not posible on this version.
Its case is very strong, and has a long data cable, so you can perform test even driving.
Multilingual menus expand its range for customers.
I am really happy with this new scanner.
